This is the time of year when Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS/COVID-19 Emergency Assistance Fund ordinarily makes their money for the year. Obviously that’s not happening. I saw this show live when it was at the Barrow Theatre (think I have that right). It’s a genuine one-man tour de force starring Michael Urie. I think it’s well suited to being filmed in his living room and recommend it highly.

Stage and TV favorite Michael Urie returns to his iconic turn in Jonathan Tolins’ hilarious one-man-show Buyer & Cellar…live from his living room! Urie plays Alex More, who has a story to tell. A struggling actor in Los Angeles, he takes a job working in the Malibu basement of a beloved megastar. One day, the Lady Herself comes downstairs to play. It feels like real bonding in the basement, but will their relationship ever make it upstairs? Buyer & Cellar is an outrageous comedy about the price of fame, the cost of things and the oddest of odd jobs! BUYER & CELLAR By Jonathan Tolins Starring Michael Urie Directed by Nic Corey, based on the original production by Stephen Brackett Livestream Direction by Paul Wontorek Produced by Broadway.com in partnership with Pride Plays and Rattlestick Playwrights Theater |
