If you transfer personal documents to your Kindle, two usual methods currently unavailable

If you transfer personal documents to your Amazon Kindle, you may be using one of two easy methods that can be put the item on your Kindle and in  your archived content at the same time. Unfortunately, neither the Send to Kindle app method and emailing it to the Kindle currently work. They stopped working … Continue reading If you transfer personal documents to your Kindle, two usual methods currently unavailable

Kindle quirks if you want to listen to Audible books on a Kindle thru Bluetooth speakers

I had questions related to my Kindles that were sufficiently complex that I had the honor to talk to a live person in their technical department. That doesn't  happen often so I asked three questions that have been bugging me. (1) Selected Amazon Kindle devices require you to use a BlueTooth speaker to listen to … Continue reading Kindle quirks if you want to listen to Audible books on a Kindle thru Bluetooth speakers

Yet another reason I’m glad I’m Apple all the way (except for my Kindles)

I still have to run Windows under Parallels Desktop so that I can run the PC version of Quicken. Otherwise I would no longer have the pleasure seeing the occasional blue screen or the totally inexplicable error messages for which there are no apparent solutions. But this problem is a new one to me. https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/microsoft-edge-fake-google-chrome/Continue reading Yet another reason I’m glad I’m Apple all the way (except for my Kindles)

“Running Barefoot” by Amy Harmon — quick recommendation

"Walking Barefoot" is by Amy Harmon. It's gently flowing fiction with young romance and family. Has sad parts but is not one of those wring-you-out weepies. I recommend this as rewarding relief from heavier or more explicit fare.. Nicely, it's in the Kindle Unlimited program as are several of her other books.

Barnes & Noble fighting to stay alive

I keep an eye on Barnes & Noble. They had a large store near Lincoln Center that's now a Century 21. People would browse there but buy from Amazon. They also sell Nook, an eBook reader that preceded the Kindle, but has since lost almost all of its market share. Since I share my Amazon … Continue reading Barnes & Noble fighting to stay alive

Rats: Observations on the History & Habitat of the City’s Most Unwanted Inhabitants by Robert Sullivan (books that matter to me)

Anyone who's ever had a run-in with a NYC rat knows they share virtually no commonality with an ordinary mouse other than four feet and a tail. I've seen some that approach the size of gophers. They're formidable and the city has found them almost impossible to exterminate. No wonder the feral cats of the … Continue reading Rats: Observations on the History & Habitat of the City’s Most Unwanted Inhabitants by Robert Sullivan (books that matter to me)
