If you’ve followed this blog for long enough, you’d guess that I have a cat — and you might even guess one of those very energetic, lively Abyssinians that climb, are as affectionate and friendly as a dog, and makes their presence known.
I have two: Beau, a three year-old male who came here from Paris during COVID and Blue Ivy, a 12-year old who received that name several weeks before the naming of Beyoncé’s daughter. Life can be complicated when you have pets — and sometimes expensive.
Beau has never been totally concerned about the effect of his body passing by other objects. On Monday, he knocked a thermos of ice water onto the keyboard of my MacBook (no reader of this blog would expect me to own any computer other than an Apple). I shook it out but knew it had to get serviced.
Fortunately I still had Apple Care, I’d tried to get all the water off it that I could, and I wasn’t drinking anything with sugar or alcohol. It had to be sent off however to determine if anything had been damaged. Just got it back yesterday afternoon and I’m very pleased that life is as back to normal as it gets.
Family members love their iPads. This period gave me the opportunity to try mine again. An iPad does not back up a MacBook on which you perform word and data processing. Even with a Magic Keyboard, it’s awkward and many things simply can’t be replicated even if you supposedly have the same software. I gave it a shot as I had no choice but no, iPads are still for a different audience.
So, I’m back to searching for new items to bring to your attention but I’m not going to backfill beyond one item a day for the missed time.
PS This gave me the opportunity to get a new decal from DecalGirl as I had to remove the old one (the one called Milky Way) for servicing. They’re a small business in downstate Delaware that produces high quality protective covering that are more like vinyl than decals to show your school on your notebook. Their service is excellent and the range of designs is bound to have something you like.
Oh my goodness! Sounds like you didn’t have to spend much to get a new one?

One is 12 years old, the other three years old. They cost less than dogs.
