Messi picks France and Brazil

In an interview that the Paris Saint-Germain star gave to DirecTV Sports, Messi pointed to the two teams which he believes that are the main contenders for the trophy.

“Currently, the candidates are the big teams,” Messi said.

“We’re talking about GermanyBrazilFranceEnglandSpain.

“If I have to choose two, Brazil and France are the great candidates for this World Cup.

“Despite having been eliminated at the last European Championship, [France] have some impressive players. They have a very clear idea and the same coach.”

Argentina’s form ahead of the World Cup

Apart from giving his take on other national teams, Messi also analysed Argentina‘s situation. It has to be noted that the Albiceleste are unbeaten in their last 35 games.

“For us Argentines, it’s difficult to be calm,” Messi declared.

“We are always among the best, we are always candidates and, many times, it was not like that.

“A World Cup is very difficult. A lot of things have to happen.

“There are many teams that want the same as us and, even if we are doing well, there are many that are doing better.”
