NYC Weather: High Temps Reach 10 Degrees Above Normal

Spring weather will hit New York City early, with Wednesday’s highs hitting 67 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

NEW YORK CITY — Don’t be surprised if it seems that spring has sprung early in New York City.

High temperatures Wednesday could hit 67 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

“Another mild day today with highs generally 10 degrees or so above normal,” the NWS New York office tweeted.

In fact, the highs Wednesday could be even greater than the promised 10 degrees, depending on what part of the city.

March 16 typically sees highs averaging 49.7 degrees in Central Park, climate data shows. The high Wednesday in the park is 67 degrees.

JFK Airport, by contrast, has a normal maximum temperature of 48.5 degrees that day, according to data. The airport’s high Wednesday is predicted to be 60 degrees.

Forecasters predict the last half of March could be warmer than usual, according to the National Weather Service.

“The Climate Prediction Center is forecasting a 40-50% chance of above normal temps and a 33-40% chance of above normal precip for the remainder of March,” the NWS New York office tweeted.

Sunny, with a high near 62. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 7 mph in the morning.

Wednesday Night
Patchy drizzle between 2am and 5am, then patchy drizzle with a slight chance of rain after 5am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 47. East wind 5 to 9 mph.

Thursday
Rain likely, mainly after 8am. Patchy fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 56. Northeast wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday Night
A 20 percent chance of rain before 11pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 48. North wind 6 to 8 mph becoming northwest after midnight.

Friday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 65. West wind 6 to 8 mph.

Friday Night
Showers likely, mainly after 2am. Increasing clouds, with a low around 51. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Showers. High near 60. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
