UPPER WEST SIDE, NY — It is not easy to get named the best of anything in New York City, but a dish from an Upper West Side restaurant recently got named as one of the 22 best desserts in the five boroughs.
Eater NY just updated a ranking of the best desserts in the city and a Grapefruit Givre from Boulud Sud at 20 West 64th Street was included on the list.
Here’s what the editors from the food ranking and news website had to say about the UWS eatery’s dish:
“End every meal at Daniel Boulud’s flavor-packed ode to southern France and the Mediterranean with the refreshing grapefruit givré. The kitchen spoons sorbet into a hollowed-out grapefruit shell, tosses in fresh segments of the fruit and citrus marmalade, and tops it off with sesame foam and rose loukoum, before sealing the grapefruit with a brûléed orange sugar tuile. Finally, halva candy floss is placed on top of it all. The end product is crunchy, crackly, chewy, icy, silky, tart, and perfumed.”
Boulud Sud is one of Boulud’s many successful eateries across the country.
Let’s go!
The Upper West Side restaurant says it draws its inspiration from France’s Cote d’Azur, Spain, Italy, Greece, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, Israel, Turkey and beyond.
The restaurant on West 64th Street between Broadway and Central Park West is open for dinner on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 5 to 9:30 p.m., and Friday to Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m.
You can find out more about the restaurant on its website.
