We all love a good day at the beach. But the mountains of sand you find in your swimsuit, car and everywhere in between when you get home? Not so much.
Stephanie Scheff posted a video of her ‘mummy hack’ to TikTok back in March and it’s still being shared today. So what is the secret to sand-free feet?
Drum roll please.
“Always have baby powder in the car for beach trips,” she says. “You don’t want this coming in your car so sprinkle it on the area that has the sand and it comes right off.
“Look – no more sand. And it smells good.”
She even demonstrated the trick with her little one, proving the hack to be extremely effective.
Her post has racked up 25.9k likes and 230 comments so far, with one follower explaining that “it works because the baby powder absorbs the moisture in the sand that makes it stick.
It’s worth noting that a number of followers commented that there are health concerns around the talc she used which can be dangerous to children, and in a later video Stephanie suggested that cornstarch can also be used for the same results.
This isn’t the first time this hack has been shared – last year, another ingenious mum posted the same hack to Mumsnet in an article which rounded up its users’ best holiday tips, and insisted it worked a “charm” on her children’s sandy feet. “It works on hair, feet, and legs. Once you try it, you won’t want to head to the beach without it,” she explained.
We just thought you would like a little reminder in case you’re planning on hitting the beach this summer.
