Climate change is the symptom. Consumer culture is the disease.

One issue that raises its ugly head is the fact that countries like the US have had their consumer culture splurges for decades, if not hundreds of years. Other countries, like China, are just hitting their stride in terms of individuals competing with each others in the purchase of goods. Those countries think it unreasonable and unfair to say the early birds got the worms, and they get nothing. How is that problem to be addressed? Nobody really has answers.
