Movies showing at New Plaza Cinema, Upper West Side NYC, Monday, May 27th

Those of us who love independent and small movies grieved when the landlord required the Lincoln Plaza Cinema at W 62nd Street and Broadway to close. This neighborhood is activist tho, and the New Plaza Cinema (which doesn’t yet have a permanent home) is regularly showing movies at the NY Institute of Technology auditorium between W 61st and W 62nd Streets on Broadway.

Four movies will be shown on each of Monday, May 27th; Saturday, June 1st; and Sunday, June 2nd. Monday’s showings are:

1:00 pm – Be Natural: The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blaché

3:15 pm – Farinelli

5:45 pm – Hearts and Minds

8:15 pm – They Shall Not Grow Old

Full descriptions of the movies, including trailers, can be found at http://www.newplazacinema.com.  I recommend buying tickets online as the box office accepts only cash and opens only 20 minutes before the movie. (This is a non-profit, volunteer organization.) I’ll be going to two of the shows.
