In case you thought 36 hours of cold with the polar vortex changed the long-term trend — nope

The difference between weather (short-term) and climate (long-term) is essential for context on any story about the conditions of this air layer that keeps us alive. The recent plunge in temperatures associated with the climate-induced split of the polar vortex was definitely impressive — but it was just a few days. The long-term trend is still emphatically warming and accelerating in its increase.
