Item 3: what I plan to do to help #savetheplanet

As I’ve mentioned before, I live in downtown Manhattan and don’t own a car. My transportation choices are many: walking, buses, subway, cabs, renting cars, and connecting to more long-distance options such as trains, planes. Public transit is very reasonably priced compared to car ownership, particularly once you’re a senior as I am. My primary limitations are stairs which can be difficult and uneven walking conditions so usually I either walk or ride a bus. I’ve lived here since 2001 and have yet to rent a car.

(3) IMPROVE MY LOCAL TRANSPORTATION CHOICES

If I’m going to somewhere that can’t be walked to, the most efficient means of travel is the subway. If I can’t do stairs right then, either ride a bus or use shared ride services that are less expensive and more efficient except for requiring me to allow more time to get places. Given the density of available options for almost anything, I also need to check local resources more regularly before heading off by public transportation as walking is greener than any form of public transit.

Comments and suggestions are welcome.
