Liz Cheney’s book is in demand, but impossible to find

For those who read on Kindles, the best deal is to buy the combination of the Kindle and audio books. Cheney is an excellent narrator and the price of both is less than the price of the audiobook alone.

Reviews and recommendations from critic Ron Charles.

“Oath and Honor: A Memoir and a Warning” went on sale Tuesday and immediately sold out.

Cheney, who was censured by the Republican National Committee in 2022 for refusing to drink the fascist-flavored Kool-Aid, has been promoting her book across the country.

The former Wyoming congresswoman continues to raise alarms about the threat a second Trump presidency would pose to America. On CBS Sunday Morning, she said the United States is “sleepwalking into dictatorship.” Monday night, 3 million people watched her criticize Trump during an interview with Rachel Maddow. On Tuesday, The Washington Post reported that she’s considering a third-party run for the White House to stop the Very Stable Genius (story).

Meanwhile, right-wing ghouls on Trump’s social media platform are apoplectic about Cheney.

All that publicity created extraordinary demand for “Oath and Honor.”

A statement from Little, Brown said, “We are printing tens of thousands of additional copies, and those copies will be available imminently. We are rushing reorders to retailers and online sellers this week and next week, and the resupply will continue so all of the demand can be met.” The publisher declined to say how many copies were in the first printing or how many had sold.

Here in Washington, Politics and Prose sold out of “Oath and Honor” instantly — before finding another 20 copies a day later to offer desperate buyers. Co-owner Bradley Graham tells me, “For all her other attributes, Cheney is proving a holiday godsend for booksellers. The book is the hottest nonfiction title at the moment that we have. Even before its release, we got a huge surge in web orders.”

Politics and Prose has Cheney scheduled to speak in Washington on Dec. 13, but those tickets sold out within hours of being announced. Graham said he’s still getting calls from people asking him if there’s any way to get in.

“We’re trying to get more copies. We’ve been told that we’re getting some more, but we didn’t have enough on hand to meet demand. I don’t know if anybody did.”

Meanwhile, Trump told his Truth Social followers that “Crazy Liz Cheney” is “desperately looking for something else to do.” As usual, that’s not true. Cheney has plenty to do promoting this season’s hottest political memoir
