Face ID stops working if you use a third party to repair a broken screen

The good side of this story is that, when I broke my iPhone 12 Mini screen in a fall, I got a new identical iPhone for $29.95 under AppleCare. I don’t believe in insurance for most devices but I *always* get AppleCare.
