I love domesticated cats who live inside as necessary to my life. But cats are remarkably efficient predators when allowed to run free. Bird lovers often hate cats with a passion for that very reason. And it’s a sound reason for keeping pet cats indoors.
What’s happening now is that feral cats are heading into the Australian bushfire scars and killing off whatever life has managed to survive. The cats are attacking and eating the vulnerable which is completing the wiping out of entire ecosystems. Their effficienct is yet one more part of the bushfire disaster.
