This bill passed with Republican and Democratic support. A shame that doesn't happen more often. The Washington Post has done a fine job here of describing the skeleton of a huge expansion in public lands. Now if only we could limit commercial exploitation of these lands thru drilling, improper forest management, and more. https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2019/02/12/senate-just-passed-decades-biggest-public-lands-package-heres-whats-it/

Water weight is changing Antartica in unexpected ways
Antarctica was once a very different land containing tropical climates. The melting of the ice sheets and snow accumulated over thousands of years is bringing that land back to the surface. That movement is so major that the ice shelves around the continent are being affected. Nature is mighty. https://www.livescience.com/64758-meltwater-is-breaking-antarctica.html Lakes of Melted Snow Are … Continue reading Water weight is changing Antartica in unexpected ways
In case you like the food kit concept but wonder how green they are
I've tried several of the major and minor food kit services that deliver you exactly what you need in the way of ingredients for X number of usually very tasty meals. From personal experience, I was appalled at the amount of packaging required to safely bring refrigerated ingredients to my door and eventually stopped for … Continue reading In case you like the food kit concept but wonder how green they are
DHS reducing its capability to handle foreign meddling with our elections
With each fresh proven allegation about foreign interference in our elections, you'd think we'd be more alert rather than less. No. You might even think such activity would be viewed as a serious threat to national security (unlike a procession of poor non-white people wanting to enter our country). Also no. This sort of neglect … Continue reading DHS reducing its capability to handle foreign meddling with our elections
GOP administrations 38 times the criminal convictions of Dems over 55 years
Whether or not you agreed with President Obama's views, there were no top officials facing corruption or other criminal accusations. This administration? A different story. Having a greener planet good, but insufficient
This is one of those on the one hand, on the other hand, articles. India and China have been successfully pushing their citizens to plant additional trees. That's great! Unfortunately those two countries (particularly China) have also increasing their greenhouse gas production with their accelerating industrial base and even this huge effort to add trees … Continue reading Having a greener planet good, but insufficient
Superb, detailed statement of why the Brits (and a few other people) don’t like Trump
This showed up in my Facebook feed. I have no idea who Nate White is, whether he wrote this or not, or who posted it. What I do know is that it very accurately describes Trump as a human being and thus the reasons why many people dislike him. Someone asked "Why do some British … Continue reading Superb, detailed statement of why the Brits (and a few other people) don’t like Trump

Single diners in NYC up 80% in five years — why?

Show meat eaters something better tasting and they’ll switch
Valid and helpful point being made here -- switch people away from meat by offering them something tastier.
