So many odd and (to me) unexpected side effects of global warming…. Here’s another. The oceans will be bluer because the higher temperatures and more acidic water will kill off much of the bottom of the food chain that currently turns the water green. If the smallest critters die, the next smallest have nothing to eat — repeat. The end of the road is a virtually empty ocean (other than plastics).
Humans count on marine life for an important part of their diet. In a time when land-based food will be more scarce due to lack of fresh water in aquifers, glaciers, or from the sky and from the higher temperatures that impede pollination, we will have to work much harder and pay much more to get the calories we need each day.
