I posted this on Facebook at least partly to remind myself that change is inevitable but seeing it as defeat is not:
Everyone goes thru periods when holiday traditions seem established for the rest of time. Then things change. The trick is to distill what’s most important to you about the end of December and then pick at least a few ways to celebrate. The worst option for mental health and happiness is to let your life patterns devolve to doing nothing. Sometimes that requires going thru the motions before you begin to care again.
