When the idea of cooking just One More Thing doesn’t appeal, here are three cheater recipes for desserts you can make at the last minute for a holiday.
CHOCOLATE CHERRY BARS
1 package chocolate fudge cake mix
21 ounces cherry pie filling
1 teaspoon almond extract
2 eggs, beaten
Grease and flour 10×15″ or 9×13″ pan. Mix remaining ingredients and pour into pan. Bake at 350 degrees 20-30 minutes, testing in center. Cool in pan on wire rack. Doesn’t even need to be frosted.

Notes: Can add 1/2 cup mashed fruit to complement fruit-flavored yogurt. Everyone, no matter how sophisticated, likes this unless they don’t like sweet things.
LIME COOL WHIP PIE
15 ounces Cool Whip
1 can sweetened condensed milk
6 ounce can frozen limeade, thawed
prebaked pie shell
Mix 3 ingredients and pour into shell. Chill.
