We are excited to share that our next partnership will be with SYMPHONY SPACE, where we’ll continue to feature first run films starting August 24th through Labor Day weekend, followed by an engaging repertory film calendar in September and October.  Symphony Space has a robust film history and a vibrant slate of film programs, and this partnership is one which continues this longstanding tradition of thought-provoking cinema on the Upper West Side.  Says Symphony Space’s Executive Director Kathy Landau, “This relationship with New Plaza Cinema is one that we are extremely excited to share with our audiences and our community.  There are incredible stories to be told through film, and we are thrilled to provide a home where creative expression and passionate audiences can meet, enthusiasts can find inspiration, and everyone can gather together in post-screening conversation in our very own Bar Thalia.”

New Plaza Cinema will also be featuring daily matinee screenings at Symphony Space of the hugely popular, inspirational documentary RBG, chronicling the life of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, a tonic for troubling times.

At the age of 84, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has developed a breathtaking legal legacy while becoming an unexpected pop culture icon. But without a definitive Ginsburg biography, the unique personal journey of this diminutive, quiet warrior’s rise to the nation’s highest court has been largely unknown, even to some of her biggest fans – until now. RBG is a revelatory documentary exploring Ginsburg ‘s exceptional life and career from Betsy West and Julie Cohen, and co-produced by Storyville Films and CNN Films.
